Taking Inventory is a workshop for artists, writers and thinkers to develop new directions in their own generative process.
Presented on June 23, 2019, in Saint John, participants explored their relationship to “wild objects” — things that have become unsheltered after the cycle of consumption and are vulnerable to their destructive potential to harm the natural environment.
Over the course of an afternoon, we investigated Tin Can Beach through a series of short immersive experiences that engaged our senses of observation and response. Participants worked alongside one another to create a unique inventory that spoke to their understanding of material and natural worlds and discussed with the group the confounding boundaries between the two. We explored assembling sculptural forms as a way to think about our relationship to things once they’ve become trash.
Presented by HARBOUR & Third Space
